WHAT ARE ARTISAN WRISTWATCHES?
Posted on January 22 2017
You might be wondering - what exactly, are artisan wristwatches? Today we'll answer that question.
In today's world there are many watch brands out there selling in bulk where you pay upwards of $700 for a watch that didn't cost more than $50 to produce. Nonetheless, there are a lot of 'watch geeks' and watch groupies who prefer to pay top dollar that break bank to acquire one of those watches simply because they are often associated with social status.
At Chronodos, we take a different approach for our collection. The watches you will find here are handmade, and by that we mean that the leather cuffs and color coatings of the casings are handmade.
We are currently looking into developing our own line of watches - but this will take some time. In the mean time however, even though the watch dials itself might not be 'unique' (neither are those of famous mid-range brands) the colorings and leather cuffs are unique.
Every designer we work with a Chronodos puts a lot of love, energy, and effort into making each watch perfect. Most leather cuffs made by our designers take 15 hours or more to create - rest assured, the quality is undeniable. From designing the overall look, to making sketches, to crafting the leather and adjusting the color coatings of the watches, they all bring someone different to the table.
This, is what we call, artisan wristwatches. They are watches where the leather cuff and design was handmade by one of our designers with a keen eye for quality and leather. Most of them are designers and leather specialists at heart - with a passion for watches.
We realize that our watches might not be everyone's cup of tea. However, we are convinced that once you try one of our watches you will be sold. The quality is comparable to brands in much more expensive price categories ($500-$750) but there is, in our opinion, more added value through the custom leather cuffs.
Thus, our leather watches, made by artisans, are therefore different, but also appreciated by many. If you are a watch geek looking for technical features on a watch you will never use (e.g. 10 ATM) our watches our not for you.
But if you want a masculine accessory in the form of a leather watch - we highly encourage you to take a look around and see which one you like best
